- Started playing his rep hockey with the Markham Waxers organization of the OMHA before transferring over to the Markham Islanders of the GTHL.
- Attended and also played hockey for St. Andrew's College, in Aurora, Ontario, Canada winning two championships during his time at school.
- Continued his athletic career at McGill University as a member of the McGill Redmen lacrosse team, winning a National Championship in 2012.
